Location: 24 km/15 Miles NW of Raleigh, 17km/11 Miles SE of Durham.
Airport layout: 2 Terminals 1 & 2. Terminal 1 is a fairly basic terminal and is for Air Tran & Southwest. The Terminal is divided into 2 parts: One for Southwest Airlines, and the other for Air Tran. The 2 parts are connected by a covered corridor. Terminal 2 is for American Airlines, American Eagle, Continental, Delta, JetBlue, United & US Airways. The upper level is for ticketing and departures, the lower vel is for arrivals, baggage claim and ground transport. Transfer between Terminals: You can connect between the Terminals via an underground passage (Terminal 1 end) that goes through the parking garage and emerges at the upper level of Terminal 2. Follow the signs. Takes ~5 mins, 7 mins to Southwest Airlines.

Triangle Transit Bus 100 to Raleigh & Triangle Transit Regional Transit Center: | Bus Stop Locations: At Terminal 1, the 100 bus stop is between Bus Stop 7 (Rental Car Shuttle) and Bus Stop 8 (Park n Ride Bus stop). Exit the terminal baggage claim and cross the road. Schedules are posted. At Terminal 2, it is on the lower level. Exit baggage claim, cross one road and turn right, next to the hotel buses. The bus stops in the city of Raleigh can be a little tricky to find. They are marked by a small green-bordered metal sign on a pole (usually cluttered with parking restriction signs) saying: BUS STOP CAT, and the route numbers. Route: Triangle Transit Regional Transit Center - Morrisville Outlet Mall - Airport Terminal 2 - Airport Terminal 1 - District Dr Park & Ride - Blue Ridge Rd - Hillsborough St - Hillsborough/Brooks (NCSU) - Moore Sq Transit Center (Downtown Raleigh). Buses run from the Triangle Transit Regional Transit Center to many places including Chapel Hill (Bus 54), Raleigh (Bus 700) etc. Timings: Buses leave the airport (Terminal 1) Mon-Fri at 0639, then every 30 mins until 1039, then every hour until 1539, then every 30 mins until 1839 then every hour until 2239. Buses leave Terminal 2, 2 minutes later. Buses leave the airport (terminal 1) on Saturdays at 0739, then every hour until 1839. No Sunday service. Buses leave Moore Square in downtown Raleigh Mon-Fri at 0605, then every 30 mins until 0935, then every hour until 1535, then every 30 mins until 1735, 1810, 1840, then every hour until 2140. Saturdays every hour 0640-1840. No Sunday Service. For latest Schedules see here. Travel Time: To Moore Sq (central Raleigh) ~30 mins. Cost: $2 per person over the age of 12. Under 12 free. Pay cash to the driver. Steve's Tip: This is an excellent bus for getting to downtown Raleigh quickly and cheaply. |
Hotel Buses: | Many local hotels run shuttle buses for guests. These stop at red zone 5 outside baggage claim at Terminal 2, and they also call at Terminal 1. |

Super Shuttle to Raleigh & Durham: | Run on-demand shuttles door to door in Raleigh & Durham. Usually a maximum waiting time of 15 minutes. They have a desk in both terminals, but when these are unstaffed, a ticket machine is available. There are usually staff at the desk in Terminal 2. They also run to Wilmington, Jacksonville, Greensboro, Fayetteville, Fort Bragg, Camp LeJeune, Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, Burlington, Greenville, Pinehurst, Charlotte Airport, Smithfield, High Point, Winston Salem & Pembroke. Cell Phone Parking: | Cell phone parking lots, located within 5 minutes of major airport terminals, are intended to reduce airport congestion. Motorists coming to the airport for arriving passengers can go to one of the cell phone parking lots. Once the arriving party reaches the terminal sidewalk with luggage in hand, he or she makes a call. The waiting motorist can be curbside within minutes to quickly pick up the traveler and be on their way. At this airport, drivers may wait free of charge at the RDU Center parking lot in the Rental Car area or at the Observation Park. |
