Location: 2½ km/1½ Miles E of Lihue Town, on the East coast of Kauai. 2½ km/1½ Miles NE of the cruise ship terminal at Nawiliwili.

Airport Overview: One long terminal with a bus stop at one end and car rental offices across the road.
By Road: To Lihue 3 km/2 miles/10 mins. To the cruise ship terminal at Nawiliwili 3½ km/2 Miles/10 mins. To Koloa 19 km/12 Miles/25-30 mins. To Poipu 24 km/15 Miles/30-40 mins. To Waimea 41 km/26 Miles/50-60 mins.

Meter Rates: $3 per mile and $0.30 for every 45 seconds waiting time.

By Shuttle Van:
Hotel Shuttles: The following hotels offer a pick-up service: The Marriott Hotel every 15-30 mins. The Radisson Kauai Beach Resort (808) 245-1955. When cruise ships are in the dock at Nawiliwili, regular shuttles run from the car rental offices to the dockside.

By Bus:
General: Public buses call at the airport. To find the bus stop, exit the terminal building and walk left to the far end of the building.
The Kaua'i Bus #100/200 to and from Lihue & Kekaha: Route: Eastbound: Kekaha (Elepaio Rd/Akialoa Rd) - Kekaha Neighborhood center - Old Kekaha Store - Waimea (Boys & Girls club & Neighborhood center) - Ishihara Market - Makaweli Post Office - Hanapepe - Kalaheo Post Office - Kukui Grove - K Mart (change here for other buses) - Lihue Big Save - Walmart - Wilcox Hospital - Lihue Neighborhood center - Airport (Aloha Baggage claim) - Airport (Hawaiian baggage claim) - Lihue Courthouse (on request only) - Veteran's center - Walmart. Note: According to the timetable, buses running eastwards towards Kekaha are designated route #200, but are not shown calling at the airport.
Timings: Buses call at the airport Mon-Fri only at 0645, 0745, 0845, 0925, 1130, 1315, 1500, 1645 & 1845. Buses leaveKekaha Mon-Fri at 0530, 0630, 0730, 0800, 1015, 1200, 1345, 1530 & 1730. No buses on Major holidays. Transfer Times: From Kekaha 1 hour 15, Waimea 1 hour.

The Kaua'i Bus #350/300 to and from Koloa: Route: Airport (Aloha Baggage claim) - Airport (Hawaiian baggage claim) - Lihue Courthouse - Walmart - Wilcox Hospital - Lihue Big Save - Kukui Grove - Koloa (Ball Park, Neighborhood center & School) - Kukuiula Store - Poipu Rd - Koloa Post Office - Koloa Rd/Horita Rd. Buses routing northbound back to the airport are designated route#300.
Timings: Buses leave the airport Mon-Fri only at 0745, 1230, 1630 & 1730. Buses leave Koloa Mon-Fri only at 0631 & 0731. No buses on Major holidays.

Rental Cars:

Car rental desks are across the road from the terminal, but cars are a short distance away and reached by courtesy shuttle buses. When cruise ships are in port at Nawiliwili, each rental car company runs shuttles at regular intervals for passengers to get to the airport to rent cars.

Car Parking: Right opposite the terminal. 30 mins free, 1 hour $2, each extra hour $1, daily max $7. Lost ticket $7.
Airport Hotels: None at the airport, but a hotel booking board is provided at each of the airport information desks. The Closest hotel seems to be the Garden Island Inn Hotel, Tel (808) 245 7227 or 15 from the courtesy phone. The Marriott Hotel is within 3 km/2 miles.
Notes: ATM/Cash machine towards the center of the terminal. There is a $2 charge for luggage trolleys. $0.25 is refunded on return. There are 3 information desks at the airport, but are sometimes unattended. During these times, a phone is provided to call for info. Helicopter operators at this airport are based at the heliport, a 5 minute walk to the east of the terminal.

Port Allen, Kauai (PAK):

Location: On the South coast of Kauai, 1 km/1 Mile SW of Hanapepe & 10 km/4 Miles SE of Waimea & 16 km/10 Miles WNW of Poipu.
By Taxi: Anytime Cab (808) 635 2778 or 639 2050 will send taxis to the airport.
Notes: There are no scheduled passenger flights at this small airport, but Inter-Island Helicopters conducts sightseeing flights of the Napali Coast & the Waimea Canyon from here. Tel (808) 335 5009 or 1 800 656 5009.

Princeville, Kauai (HPV):

Location: On the North coast of Kauai, 4 km/2½ Miles E of Princeville.
Notes: There are no scheduled passenger flights at this small airport, but Heli USA Airways conducts sightseeing flights of the Napali Coast & the Waimea Canyon from here. Tel (808) 826 6591.
