General: | Regular Taxis charge about BDT 400 from the airport to the city and a little less the other way round. Takes 30 mins or more. There is a pre-paid taxi booth in the arrivals meeting area. If not using this service, then fares should always be agreed upon before travelling. In any case, drivers are required by law to have an operating meter. |
Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation (BPC): | A government organization, has a fleet of air-conditioned and non air-conditioned cars, microbuses and jeeps and offer transfer service for tourists between Dhaka airport and main city points or hotels. |
By Autorickshaw: Although Autorickshaws are not permitted at the airport, they will drop you on the Airport Road close by, and they can be picked up there too for the trip to the city. Fares should be BDT 70-100, but expect much arguing. Drivers are required to have a functioning meter, and police take a dim view of drivers who break this rule.
By Bus: Walk to the main road, which is 5 mins on foot from the terminal. The fare is BDT 5, but buses become hard to find after 2000 and are always very crowded and hot. Buses going to the airport go from Gulistan Bus station, NW of the city centre, and cost ~BDT 5. There is also a transfer bus for Sheraton Hotel guests in the arrivals meeting area.
Airport Departure Tax: BDT 300, but nearly always included in the ticket price now.
