---|---|
Airport Train Station: | The train station is not actually in the terminal, but a short (less than 5 mins/300m) walk away along a covered pathway. There is a free shuttle bus that runs to the station every 10 mins 0600-2200, but it is quicker to walk. |

Route: Airport Station - Karlshorst - Berlin Ostbahnhof - Alexanderplatz - Friedrichstrasse - Hauptbahnhof - Zoologischer Garten (platform 1 or 2) - Berlin/Spandau. Trains leave the airport at 0132, 0432, 0532, then regularly until 2326 daily. The train takes about 30 mins to reach the main station (Hauptbahnhof) or Zoo station. Cost: Travel just on the Airport train is €2.10, however travel cards are available: Tickets are valid for 2 hrs, and for a trip from Schoenefeld Airport to Berlin city you need zones A, B & C. Using the ticket machine, first select English, then 'Local Traffic' then Berlin ABC. €3. Tickets must be validated in a special machine before use, and then are valid for 2 hours on buses & trains. |
Other destinations: | Apart from Berlin, trains run to many cities directly from the airport station, including, Vienna (Wien), Potsdam, Rostock, Hamburg, Hannover, Dresden, Erfurt, Leipzig, Altenburg, Munich (München), Nuremberg (Nürnberg), Augsburg, Linz and more. |
Traveller Feedback: | Outside there is a BUS shuttle which takes you to the railway station. However it is less than a half mile away, just the other side of the airport car park in fact. Fine if you have a lot of luggage etc. If you want to stretch your legs, when you get outside, turn left and use the pavement to the station (U-Bahn - underground), It is well signed and takes only 5 mins to walk. Once at the station, there are (but have mostly now worn away) markings on the floor pointing to the Airport Express in the pedestrian subway. It is usually the last platform, on the far side of the station, about 5 mins walk. The correct platform is indicated in the pedestrian subway. The Airport Express is NOT dedicated to the airport, the station airport just happens to be on a service route that passes through, so final destinations can be a bit confusing. |

Baggage Storage: There is a baggage storage place in Terminal A that charges €2 per bag per day (€4 for large bags), and at the train station there are lockers in the pedestrian subway.
Notes: EasyJet have their own Terminal (B), which can be a bit confusing, because there is no reference to their flights in the main one (Terminal A). Similarly German Wings are in Terminal D. The airport is on 2 floors. The meeting point is on the ground floor near the front entrance. There is also an Information point there and a bookshop/newstand etc which sells maps, guides and the BVG Welcome Cards. They cover all travel on the S-bahn, U-bahn, Trams, and all Buses. ◊ATMs/Cash Machines available in Terminal A only. ◊There are trolleys/carts (at a cost) to use to get to the nearby railway station.
Steve's Tip: The train is a fast and inexpensive way to get to the city centre.
Airport Hotels: Holiday Inn Schönefeld Airport (030) 634 010, Aparthotel Flughafen 67 90 20 & Pension Schwalbenweg 672 95 48 are all close to the airport.
